Allegedly another case of coronavirus on Kefalonia, a sixty year old male admitted to Argostoli hospital late Saturday night.

Apparently the man's 60 y-o wife has also tested positive for coronavirus.

EODY chief warns infectious UK Covid-19 variant could become dominant virus in Greece

A total of 403 cases of the new UK variant of Covid-19 have been registered in Greece so far, Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, president of the National Organization for Public Health (EODY), has said, while not ruling out the prospect of another full national lockdown to contain infections.

Speaking on Skai TV on Monday, Arkoumaneas said that the fast-spreading UK variant of the coronavirus could become the predominant strain in Greece in the coming months.

He said the British strain is up to 40 percent more transmissible, however adding there is no evidence of an increase in mortality.

Greece extends restrictions on international flights to Feb 22

Greece said on Sunday it was extending restrictions on domestic and international flights until Feb 15ruary and February 22 respectively to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

Under the restrictions passengers flying to Greece must receive a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test 72 hours prior to their arrival and undergo random testing for the coronavirus. All foreign travellers are quarantined for seven days.

Travellers from Britain will continue to be required to take a rapid test upon their arrival, while flights from Turkey remain suspended, the civil aviation authority said.

Most flights from non-EU countries are banned, with the exception of 10 countries including the UK.

On domestic flights, only essential travel is permitted.

Apparently the Minister for Tourism has been asked in the Vouli (Parliament) whether the necessary studies will be undertaken to determine if Melissani and Drogarati are safe to open this summer following the Ianos medicane. No answer as yet, so far as I'm aware.
