Greece gives novelist Victoria Hislop honorary Greek citizenship
Victoria Hislop, the renowned author of bestsellers including “The Island” and “Those Who Are Loved,” may officially consider herself Greek.
Greece’s President Katerini Sakellaropoulou has signed an honorary naturalization order allowing the 61-year-old novelist to claim Greek citizenship.
Under Greek law, honorary naturalization may be granted to people “who have provided exceptional services to the country or whose naturalization serves the public interest.”

An elderly man, believed to be Kefalonian and aged 82, and his younger wife, believed to be Polish and aged around 56. Allegedly live in Poland but return to Argostoli for the summer. Both asymptomatic (carrying Covid-19 but have no symptoms of it). Couple are isolating while local authority are 'tracking and tracing', anyone who's come into contact with the couple (or either one) are asked to get tested.
