This was supposed to happen last year bur the earthquakes stopped it, I believe there we be a bar and snack food available. Notos is now with Thomas Cook who are in favour of this and are helping as opposed to Cosmos who would not. the cost of staying at Notos has risen considerably and a lot of regulars are not going back as I understand.

We do our own thing rather than use packages so I have never stayed at Notos but I have seen the rooms which are nice enough but nothing special, IMHO.   The main attraction is the location.  The problem seems to be the considerable increase in the published prices.  It was suggested that a fortnight in the middle of June would  be in the region of £650-700 each which seems excessive.  I have been told by several people who were regulars at Notos that they definitely won't be going back this year and have been considering options.  Of course, what will happen when push come to shove is another matter.  We have all considered moving on from our regular haunts but how many actually do so.

And Maik, if people want beer and bingo, even the Russian variety, they should go to Benidorm which I know from personal experience is even worse that that bloody awful TV programme

This appears to be quite a project, mainly because it is squeezed in between various properties but if you compare it too other swimming pool and bar areas around the valley then it will be quite small, perhaps even smaller than the Mythos.

I hope it is finished by the time I go back in June.  I can, perhaps, put up with the sounds of idiot tourists enjoying a pool when the sea and beach is only yards away  but cement mixers all day would be too much.

Anyone that thinks Notos too expensive, might like to consider the new studios in Katelios. Aligis Studios seems to be reasonably priced and is with Thomson.

Looks very nice, Rog!  :btu: Here's what Thomson say:

Quote
Aligis Studios open their doors in summer 2015, and they’re set to showcase contemporary décor and a smart pool area.

This place is brand new for summer 2015. It’s set to have a full revamp, with a modern minimalist look throughout. Bedrooms will feature bleached wood furniture and muslin-topped four-poster beds.

From the front door of the hotel, you can walk to Katelios’ shops, bars and restaurants in around five minutes. The village’s sand-and-shingle beach is just a little further on.

LOCATION

    50m to the bus stop
300m from restaurants, bars and a supermarket
    500m from the beach

I wonder if they provide plug in kitchen sink. Wherever we stay, we never seem to get one!

Sorry - can't place where it would be.  500m from the beach puts it up near Jerry's or possibly even nearer to the Mythos.

:pml:

Going by the map, looks more like it's on the Katelios end of Mounda beach and the time to Katelios was guestimated on Mo Farah staying there.

Piccie from the Thomson website of Aligis pool:

Nice, open view but, from what I can see, it's a *planned* view not an actual view. So the gas works opposite aren't shown, rather than been Photoshoped out  ;)

Just up the road from Utopia on the left Tony. This is a Google street view of what it currently looks like.
It has been like this for several years now, but seems now they have found the money to finish it.

Blimey, have they finally finished that place?  It has been in various stages of being built since I started going to Katelios.

Thanks Roger - walked past it many times.  It's probably less than 500 m to the beach if you cut through via Dreams - but it is near the bust stop.

Kostas is an accountant, so if he doesn't know, who does?
