The family of a Greek digger driver, who police believe is responsible for toddler Ben Needham's death almost 25 years ago in Kos, are reportedly taking legal action action against his mother after she said she hoped his suspected killer was "burning in hell".

His children, Maria Tsechou and Chrysovalandis Barkas, are challenging the findings of the police investigation.

A small toy car that was said to have been in Ben's possession at the time of his disappearance has led the authorities to believe that he was run over by a bulldozer that Mr Barkas was driving while working at the farmhouse.

Mr Barkas's son Chrysovalandis said: "Are they serious? Is that the only deduction to be made from the find? Maybe the boy was kidnapped and the toy car yanked out of Ben's hands?"

Er..... if the Greek police said they'd found a toy car, therefore Ben Needham was dead... hardly a body of evidence.

Would you credit it, I've never known a 2 year to drop or lose a toy while still alive.  South Yorkshire Police are becoming a totally toxic brand to the extent of making inferences well beyond the available evidence in a highly sensitive case.  (All if the Mail Online is to be believed of course.)

 :oki:

Terrible for the poor mother.

Missing Ben Needham: Blood on toy car 'not a match'

Traces of blood on a toy car found amid the search for Ben Needham did not match his DNA, police said.

The missing toddler was 21 months old when he disappeared on the Greek island of Kos in July 1991.

South Yorkshire Police said forensic examinations of the toy, which was recovered from the island, showed no match to Ben or members of his family.
