Truss wrong to say energy bills capped at £2,500

The prime minister incorrectly told more than one station that there would be a maximum energy bill of £2,500 after the energy price cap is increased on 1 October.

That is not right - the energy price cap is the maximum amount that can be charged per unit of energy.

The bill will be higher or lower depending on the amount of energy used.

Balls in sport: Their impact on the planet and searching for sustainable solutions

Balls are a fundamental part of many sports and millions are produced around the world each year.

Many are made of leather - it takes 35,000 cow hides to make the 700,000 balls used in a regulation NFL season - while the use of rubber and plastic is also widespread.

The materials used, the production processes and the fact many end up either in landfill or in the sea means balls can have a negative impact on the environment.

So what are the issues and can anything be done about them?

The 51 per cent urging Ms Truss to quit after just four weeks in the job include more than one-third of 2019 Tory voters (36 per cent), while 54 per cent believe the Chancellor should resign.

Just three per cent of the public think that the mini-Budget had the right ideas, while 55 per cent believe the announcement had both the wrong ideas and was communicated badly.
