First time we went to Andros was in the eighties (nineteen eighties, not our eighties ;)), bit of a trek getting to Rafina then spent three hours on a tiny ferry same as the Lixouri-Argostoli ferries - even the (very basic) snack bar was closed. Well, it was at some ungodly hour in the morning. Bum was well numb by time we reached Gavrio. Had a great holiday in Batsi and went back a few years later - ferry was one of the huge, new, 'floating hotels'. Quite disappointed, actually. Didn't stop us going back a third time, though! Even in April I think you'll find ferries are a lot more frequent than on Kef, we managed a bit of island hopping quite easily (once we figured out which ferry was going where). Have fun!!
