Councils issue warning over Test and Trace messaging scam

Criminals are using bogus phone calls, emails and text messages posing as members of the NHS Test and Trace service to try to steal money from people, local councils have warned.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has called for caution after it said councils had received reports of fraudsters asking people for bank details as part of the scam.

It said criminals were asking for bank card details to cover the cost of a coronavirus home testing kit, despite the genuine NHS service being free.

Another Bugatti-Rivalling 3,000-HP Hypercar Is Coming From Greece

Niche supercar manufacturers have been popping up all over the world for some time now. The Lykan Hypersport, the Devel Sixteen, and more recently Spyros Panopoulos Automotive's Chaos are among the most extreme hypercars ever - cars that challenge the abilities of established rulers like the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. That last company, SPA, isn't content with just one upcoming monstrosity, however, and has now revealed that a second supercar from the Greek company is in the works. Its name? The Apeiron. Its goal? A top speed north of 500 kph or 310 mph. That's more than the record-breaking Chiron's achievement of 304.77 mph.

Maybe it could be replaced by Four Wheels on my Wagon?  No, wait a minute, that has a reference to a Native American Tribe. Ah well, they'll have to find another one.

Britain Detains Five Cruise Ships Owned by Greek-Based Company

British coast guards say they have detained five cruise ships after concerns about the welfare of crew members stranded by the coronavirus pandemic, some of whom have been aboard for a year.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency says it found “a number of expired and invalid Seafarers Employment Agreements, late payment of wages and crews who had been on board for over 12 months” when it inspected the ships.

Four of the vessels — the Astoria, Astor, Columbus and Vasco da Gama — are berthed at Tilbury Docks, east of London. The fifth, the Marco Polo, is at Avonmouth in southwest England. All five belong to Global Cruise Lines Ltd., which has its headquarters in Greece.

Coast guards say the ships will be detained until the labor breaches are resolved.
