Title: 544 Caves under Nottingham
Post by: TonyKath on Sunday, 25 May, 2014 @ 19:40:43
So far there are 544 known caves under the city of Nottingham but they keep on finding them.  Many were used in the past as dwellings, breweries or even remarkably a tannery, and some are still attractions as restaurants or bike sheds.

They can be visited today and are are still being investigated by archaeologist Dr. David Strange-Walker (I kid you not  )

bbc.com not available in the UK - don't think I knew that  .  Couldn't find a bbc.co.uk version but the the caves do have their own site City of Caves (http://www.cityofcaves.com/).
