Greek Consumer Group: Know Your Beach Rights

Greek beaches, whether private or public, are required by law to provide access to all bathers, according Greece’s main consumers group, EKPIZO.

According to EKPIZO’s statement this week: “All beaches are communal and as such free access is allowed to all citizens. Organized beaches should provide free space for other bathers.”

EKPIZO goes on to note that even in cases of the so-called “organized beaches” – offering umbrella and F&B services – free space must be available for bathers, adding that pricing for basic goods should be the same as those charged on ferries or at airports.

GREECE IS THE WORD Corfu is the cheapest family holiday destination this summer – if you book this week

BRITS hunting for a bargain should book their next family holiday to Corfu, according to the latest research.
To get the best deal, however, you need to book this week.

The Greek island has some of the cheapest seven-night deals in August, according to TravelSupermarket.

The average price per person per night in Kavos was just £56.25, or £61.94 for Sidari in Corfu.

Eating out in Corfu was also found to be one of the most affordable, with the average price of a three-course meal costing less than £15 each.

However, to get the best deal, you need to book approximately five weeks before travelling - meaning this week is the perfect time for any July or August holidays.

Having been re-routed through it I wouldn't say Kavos was a family holiday!  :oki:

Tony

Drove through it before 08:00 on way to catch ferry to mainland, tourist youths wandering back to apartments still necking it from bottles, one couple 'at it' on the floor of a shop forecourt, Union Jack flags / bath towels hung out on balconies in abundance...

Nah, not my idea of a family holiday. Mind you, that was a good few years back, maybe it's cleaned up its act since then. Lovely beach, as I remember.

Kavos and sidari are the absolute pits, cheap, but full of the dregs of society.

Sidari was beautiful - but that was 35 years back. Worked there - briefly - about 20 years ago, it was ruined. Made me sad.
