Holidaymakers could see spending money go further in 2020
Holidaymakers could see their spending money go further in 2020 as the pound packs more of a punch than a year ago, according to the Post Office.
Thirty-four of its 40 best-selling currencies are weaker against sterling than a year ago, including the euro and the US dollar.
As well as sterling strengthening, local price cuts have also been made in some destinations, in a further boost for UK travellers, the report found.

Greece's coast guard reports that 12 bodies of migrants have been collected from the Ionian Sea, southwest of the Greek island of Paxos in western Greece, after their boat took in water and sank.

Iran plane crash: Ukrainian jet was 'unintentionally' shot down
Iran has admitted "unintentionally" shooting down a Ukrainian passenger jet, killing all 176 people on board.
An investigation found that "missiles fired due to human error", President Hassan Rouhani said. He described the crash as an "unforgivable mistake".
The military said the jet turned towards a sensitive site belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and was then mistaken for a cruise missile.
Iran had previously rejected suggestions that it was to blame.

Meet Flerken the rescued half wildcat, half domestic pet
A cat deemed too wild to be kept as a pet has been found a home at a wildlife park.
Flerken the savannah cat was seized by Border Force officers after being illegally imported into the UK.
She is a cross between an African wildcat and a domestic breed and is considered too dangerous to be kept in a private home.
She has been taken in by the Ark Wildlife Park in Stickney, Lincolnshire.

Istanbul earthquake: Powerful 4.8-magnitude quake strikes Turkey’s biggest city
An earthquake has hit Turkey's largest city, Istanbul.
A seismic event measuring 4.8 magnitude struck 63 kilometres west of the city at around 4:38pm local time, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.
Concerned residents reported feeling tremors strong enough to shake buildings, although it is not yet known if there are casualties or any damage to property.
The city's mayor Ekrem Imamoglu confirmed the magnitude and said so far authorities were not yet aware of any negative impacts.
He said the event in the Marmara Sea occurred at a depth of 16 kilometres.
