Tui cancels almost all of its July holidays
During the last three weeks of July, Tui will carry fewer than 400 passengers a day from the UK on average

Britain’s biggest holiday company has cancelled the vast majority of its packages for July.

Tui will resume operations on 11 July – so long as the government relaxes its warning against all but essential travel abroad and eases the quarantine rules for returning holidaymakers.

But just 8,300 customers will travel with the company in the three weeks to the end of July. This represents only 4 per cent of the original planned capacity, with fewer than 400 passengers on a typical day.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, Tui carried an average of 74,000 travellers daily in its worldwide operations.

The holiday firm is hoping to increase to 50 per cent of holidays in August.

Initially, Tui will use only three airports in the UK: Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester.

Only eight destinations will be served, all of them islands: four in Spain and four in Greece.

Greece has yet to reveal its plans for UK travellers from July onwards, but Tui expects to offer holidays to the islands of Corfu, Crete, Kos and Rhodes.

Up to 100,000 petrol Nissan Qashqai cars and more than a million other diesel Nissan and Renault vehicles could be fitted with prohibited “defeat devices”, a law firm has claimed.

Harcus Parker said it has obtained documents which show the 1.2-litre petrol Qashqais breach emissions limits by up to 15 times when driven on the road.

Article in Kef magazine.

The government ranked Kefalonia in Zone C in terms of the risk of the virus.
He considers Kefalonia "dangerous" as deprived of the necessary infrastructure and appropriate staffing for Medical and Nursing staff.
This means that Kefalonia:
- This year is not in the options of Tour operators since no one takes responsibility for their customers and insurance companies are far from insuring travelers.
- It is not the time to choose foreign companies for the same reasons.
Thus, Kefalonia comes out of the field of Tourist Destinations, which with a great struggle and expenses had a great place but also loses some traditional visitors since they will now develop relationships with new destinations and ties in the future.
I fear that in the coming days the remaining flights from destinations such as the United Kingdom will confirm this risk.
The Hotel Chamber, the Professional Associations, the Institutional representatives of the Island must all, in a coordinated manner, react to this danger.
Kefalonia cannot be a Category Island.

Only had a quick look but looks to me as thought easyJet Holidays and Jet2 are offering hols on Kef in August - though that might get pushed back. I think maybe that article is part fact, part opinion - nowt wrong with that, I'm just not entirely sure what's what. I reckon a lot is down to demand... if people want to go (and can do so without spending two weeks in quarantine upon their return) the tour companies will find a way to get them there. The 'planes, staff, etc are all available, just waiting. I think maybe we're all waiting to see if there'll be a second wave when lockdown is further eased in the near future.

Had a bit of a nosey at sleazyjet today, they don't start Kef until August, in fact you can check various destinations and they have ;sold out; on them, it simply means they are not flying! the flight we are booked on is the 8th Sep, the price has almost halved, the seats are less than a third full, they have now placed a change flight for free when i log in! problem is, they only go up to May next year, we will still wait and see, i think you are correct when you say folks are waiting to see if there is a second wave. :dunno:
