Supermarkets are 'creating the illusion of savings that don’t exist', claims Which?

Britain’s supermarkets are “creating the illusion of savings that don’t exist” by claiming products are being sold at a discount when they only sold at the full price for a few days, as well as shrinking the pack sizes of their products without changing the price.

The consumer group Which? has made a “super-complaint” to the Competition and Markets Authority demanding they clamp on down on the practices.

It says that some retailers are misleading and confusing shoppers and as a results “manipulating consumer spending by misleading people into choosing products they may not have chosen if they knew the full facts”.
