Sorry, you will need page translator to read all the piccies and videos. also, the road is blocked up to Drakopulato with a landslide (mud) this happens nearly every year, locals blame the sighting of the windmills, they dug out the top of the mountain to place them there.

Two dead, as thousands of lightning bolts devastate Greece

Two workers were killed due to extreme weather conditions that hit Greece on Tuesday morning in the Peloponesse and the western part of the country.

According to initial reports, one of the field workers was killed after he was struck by lighting in the region of Lechena in Ilia, while other, also a field worker, was killed in the region of Messinia.

Greece was hit by a barrage of lightning bolts, with the “Zeus” lightning recording system of the National Observatory of Athens recording more than 10,500 lightning strikes by 13:00, of which about 7,000 were above the sea and 3,500 above land.

The downpour was devastating for the seaside village of Agia Efimia in Kefalonia, which was flooded and buried in the mud as torrents of water descended on the port. Other islands such as Ithaca also experienced heavy rains.

The Kefalonia Press article says the flood is happening "as usual".  Strewth.

Aye, well, expat reckons it happens nearly every year (although maybe not always as bad as this year). Makes one wonder if ensuring the water courses aren't blocked (with old fridges, etc) might be in order.

There is an old dry riverbed, it runs from Makriotika down towards Agia Efimia, what has happened over the last few years is strange, we were up in our mountain retreat, we heard a loud roaring, we could not make out where it was coming from, we saw a local pointing up to the windmills on Kalon Ora, the land was sliding down and water cascading from the top, the landslide blocked the road at Drakopulata, the water filled the dry riverbed, then the lot set off towards Agia Efimia, it also crossed the road near to the town yard, the result was the same as yesterday, it has happened several times now, it will happen again.
