Hotmail Outlook Email Down
« on: Monday, 18 September, 2017 @ 23:18:56 »
There seem to be worldwide (?) problems with MS email from early pm today (BST) - info only coming through now.  Annoying as I spent time searching a few hours back and found zilch so assumed somehow my mail configuration had been screwed up on the  server.  Mostly seems to be sent mail ending in drafts folder and not being sent.  Some mail is getting through so you may be OK. There is nothing to tell you your email hasn't gone unless you check your sent mail or your drafts folder.

You may get this or other error messages: "something went wrong and we haven't been able to send your message yet". Trying to re-send an email in drafts I even got: "You do not have permission to perform this action"!!!!!!!  At other attempts there was not even a re-send button on the email.

I experienced a similar issue on Saturday. I was unable to send e-mails on I-phone or I-pad. Just kept going to outbox. Finally used my laptop and windows 7 to sort the problem.
Strange and irritating at the time.

Not sure this is related but could be more problems ahead, for some:

Apple's iOS 11 update is blocking Microsoft email accounts from sending messages using the default Mail app for iPhone and iPad.

While the emails from Outlook.com, Office 365 and Exchange 2016 addresses were compatible with previous versions of iOS, the software update released yesterday caused emails to fail to send.

Users trying to use a Microsoft email account on Mail have been with the message: "Cannot Send Mail. The message was rejected by the server."
