Tsipras wins confidence vote with 151 majority, paving way for Prespes deal

Following two days of vehement debate in Parliament, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras won a motion of confidence in his government late on Wednesday with 151 votes in favor and 148 against.

Attention now shifts to a vote on the Macedonia name deal, which is expected to come to Parliament early next week and whose passage is less certain.

The diet to save lives, the planet and feed us all?

For red meat you're looking at a burger a week or a large steak a month and that's your lot.

You can still have a couple of portions of fish and the same of chicken a week, but plants are where the rest of your protein will need to come from.

You can buy an entire home for €1 in this stunning town in Italy

Although it may sound too good to be true, local officials are offering the homes on the hilltop town in an effort to repopulate the rural city.

And buyers will more than get their money’s worth as the dozens of homes for sale are built on land referred to as the “Earthly Paradise” on the southern island of Sicily.

According to city officials, the goal is to bring people back to Sambuca after an exodus of locals to larger cities.

However, the deal does have one condition – new owners must invest €15,000 ($17,000, £13,000) into refurbishing their new home within three years, as most of the abandoned homes are run down and dilapidated.

PPC CEO: Power rate hikes necessary

The head of Greece’s dominant power utility, the ATHEX-listed but still state-controlled Public Power Corp. (PPC), on Wednesday said an increase in electricity rates is “required”.

PPC CEO and president Manolis Panagiotakis said higher power rates – already high comparable to similar markets in the EU – are necessary for the utility to deal with higher operational costs and, primarily, to seek new market borrowing in order to restructure its debts.

Owner gets stuck up tree trying to rescue own cat

A pet owner had to be rescued from a tree after climbing it to free her missing cat.

Maria Parry spent "three days of searching and no sleep" after Harry the tabby disappeared from her home in Fareham, Hampshire.

When she found the bedraggled moggy in a back garden she climbed the tree "by instinct" to comfort him before getting stuck herself.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the pair were rescued using a ladder.

Deffo one to miss IMHO.  Who'd want to spend several hours each way with a bus load of crazy, angry Greek nationalists, probably p*ssed on the way back.  They probably don't like foreigners that much, either.

I've actually read the Prespes agreement and I don't reckon many Greek people have, including my Greek teacher who's agin' it.  It's not just about accepting the name change to Northern Macedonia.  It covers agreement to respect the current border and drop territorial claims on both sides. There's also a lot about the Macedonians respecting Greek "patrimony". That's about the Macedonians taking down all the stuff about Alexander the Great, some of which has been done recently to wind up the Greeks, e.g.the name on Skopje airport, also not claiming ancient Greek stuff as Macedonian and protecting Greek archaeological sites. In other words it's about normal international relations and I reckon the Macedonians have made a lot of concessions because they want to join the EU and NATO.

the Macedonians... want to join the EU and NATO

Definitely suss then.

It's not only Greece the Skopjans have pissed off, they have also made irredentist claims impinging on Bulgaria, Albania and Serbia. Not sure about Albania and Serbia but I'm pretty sure Bulgaria are also threatening to piss on their parade if they don't give up claims relating to Bulgaria.
