Title: Strange story
Post by: Maik on Friday, 09 March, 2018 @ 09:03:18
Strange story about Eammonn Donnellan, an Irish lorry driver sent by his employer to Greece to collect 23 pallets of olive oil. On the way back he was stopped and a search revealed numerous undeclared packages of cigarettes hidden among the olive oil pallets.

Donnellan was tried and convicted but soon released on appeal. End of story?

No. Six and a half years later he was fined €1,097,505 by Greek Customs & Excise. No-one actually told Donnellan. So the 'debt' accumulated to €1,507,971.
