Visitors to Greece told to take precautions against mosquitoes amid West Nile virus
UK Foreign Office says travellers should take preventive measures to minimise exposure to mosquito-borne West Nile virus - which caused 50 deaths last year

Holidaymakers jet-setting to Greece this summer are being warned to take extra precautions against a mosquito-borne virus that killed 50 people last year.

The UK Foreign Office (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/greece/health) has updated their travel warnings for British visitors to the Mediterranean country after Greek health officials have warned about the potential risks of the disease - branded as West Nile virus.

The illness causes typical fever symptoms such as headaches, and general aches and pains, but in severe cases it can prove fatal.
