Large document forgery ring busted in Germany and Greece

Police in Germany and Greece have arrested one suspect after carrying out 12 house searches as part of an investigation into large-scale document forgery.

Operation Kosmos - which was initiated by the German authorities and supported by Europol - aimed to bust a network involved in the smuggling of forged documents to facilitate the illegal border crossing of citizens across Europe.

The forged documents were mainly passports, ID cards, residence permits and driving licences. After exchanging information with Europol, the investigation led the officers to Greece, where they identified different suspects and a counterfeit print shop producing these fake documents.

Is Greece reopening because it's safe or out of desperation?

The first flights from Britain since lockdown are now arriving in Greece.

The travel ban which remained in place longer than in countries has finally been lifted, allowing tourists to travel to the likes of Skiathos once again.

People arriving from abroad brings with its own risk and reward, as many fear that it could lead to an increase in coronavirus cases but others know they island is reliant on tourism and their need money to be spent on Skiathos.

People are required to have a coronavirus test upon arrival but there are questions about whether the island is reopening because it's safe or out of desperation.

High risk of bush fires on Zakynthos today but only the usual medium risk on Kefalonia, according to civilprotection.gr.

Not from: Belfast International / Birmingham / Edinburgh / Newcastle.

Fly from: East Midlands / Glasgow / Leeds Bradford / Manchester / London Stansted

German Tourists Landing in Greece Without PLF Form Hit with Stiff Fines

German vacationers were hit with 500 euro fines when they landed at Heraklion airport on Crete on Wednesday without having filled up the “Passenger Locator Form” (PLF) prior to coming to the country.

Local news website ekriti reports that the German vacationers protested for some time, insisting that they did not have any information about the PLF. They added that neither their travel agent nor the departure airport informed them about this particular document.
