Title: New Ferry Service
Post by: Jolly Roger on Tuesday, 15 January, 2019 @ 15:03:54
A ferry service between Kefalonia and Mesalonghi has been on the cards for a few years now. The approach to Mesalonghi is down a long channel of 7 kms and a depth of 5+ metres.

IONION P LINES announces that in collaboration with the Municipality of Messolonghi , the vessel ITHAKI DIAMOND will operate on a daily basis from May 2019 connecting the city of Messolonghi with the islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca.

The company has already filed the relevant file with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and despite the rumoured intention to subsidise the line by the Ministry, it will not seek to do so, because it hopes that with the appropriate planning of lunges by Astakos (a line that is continuously served since 2006) and Messolonghi can make both lines viable.
