You’ll Shudder When You See What Google Knows About Your Web Searches

To see what Google keeps check your Google History (https://history.google.com/history/). Staggering. Think it's only if you have a Google account, but not sure. Very difficult to avoid having an account if you have an Android device but the article tells you how to have the account and also switch off search history archiving.

Possibly an assumption that everyone has a Google account. Seems quite widely assumed that everyone has a FB a/c.

If you've got an Android device you've got a Google login......but, once you've setup an alternative email, you only need Login to Google to install Apps....I believe
There's little reason to Login to Google to use it's browser.
In fact, there's little reason to use Google's browser per set
IMHO of course ;-)
