Boy dangled into oil well to save tiny puppy

Watch as the 10-year-old is lowered in head first.

Mass gatherings to be banned as Boris Johnson makes coronavirus U-turn

Sporting events, concerts and other “mass gatherings” will be cancelled from next week after Boris Johnson performed an about-turn over the Government’s handling of coronavirus.

The Prime Minister decided to ban major events just 24 hours after insisting he would not be following Scotland’s lead in outlawing crowds of more than 500 people.

Schools could extend Easter holiday in battle against coronavirus

Schools are preparing for an extended Easter holiday, The Daily Telegraph has learned, with headteachers having been summoned to speak to ministers about emergency plans.

There is a "real logic" to extending the Easter break by a week on either side, according to Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL).

Contagion observed in booking cancellations

Cancellations of bookings at Greek hotels for the months after April are coming thick and fast, while major tour operators such as Tui are citing "force majeure" for its suspension of payments and the list of cruise operators and airlines canceling their plans is growing.

Tui has sent letters to Greek hotel groups it cooperates with, informing them that due to reasons beyond its control – i.e. the coronavirus epidemic – it is turning its guaranteed contracts into allotments, that is conventional bookings without deposit payments, which is the main source of revenue for hoteliers.

Just heard a 67 y-o male from Zakynthos has become one of Greece's three coronavirus victims.

Apparently Argostoli and Lixouri are devoid of the usual crowds.

Jet2 planes turn around in mid-air as firm cancels Spain flights

Jet2 planes heading to Spain turned back in mid-air on Saturday as the airline cancelled all flights to the country because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision follows a sharp increase in infections in Spain and a rise in the death toll to 120. The government has declared a two-week state of emergency and placed 60,000 people in four towns under mandatory lockdown on Friday.
