EU ministers to discuss plan to charge Britons to visit Europe after Brexit
A European plan under which Britons will face a £10 charge to travel to the EU after Brexit is to be discussed by interior ministers this week.
The plan for a European version of the US visa waiver programme has already won the backing of the British diplomat now in charge of European security.

Unlikely to ever happen, because it would have to be ratified by all countries in the bloc. A country like Greece, that relies on tourism, will not want to discourage their British visitors.

I wouldn't mind using the Other Passports queue, especially at Gatwick where the EU Passport Holder's queue is always so much busier than the alternative.
It'll be a bonus rather than a deterrent, a Customs equivalent of Speedy Boarding

You mean combine EU and Other, and have a UK Passport Holders only channel?
The potential side effects of Brexit just get better and better.

And we can always charge £10 to EU, USA, Chinese etc. visitors

Reported on BBC news that it would cost 5 euros and would last 10 years. The 5 euro visa will apply to all non EU visitors.

It would cost that to collect it and check on arrival and imagine the queues at Kef airport. :blink:

I don’t think it will be an actual piece of paper that you carry around. Just recently completed a visa application for Australia, it was all completed on line, the ok came through within a couple of hours and the visa is electronically attached to your passport, very simple, no papers to get lost.

Will the replacement English passports (I know, but I'm pre-judging Wee Jimmy Krankie's achievements) have Electronic capabilities rather than simply best quality British leather, card and paper?

Electronic attachment isn't a lot of use at Kef airport currently where the passports are manually examined other than scanned. Does this mean you have inside information on the new facilities that the German owners are going to put in?
