Inquest opened into Norfolk judge who drowned whilst holidaying in Greece

An inquest has been opened into the death of a Norfolk man who died suddenly having drowned on holiday in Greece.

Timothy Lawrence... drowned in the swimming pool of the Kefolonia hotel he was staying at on July 30, 2017.

Mr Lawrence, born in April 29 1942, was a circuit judge and lived in Chelsea, London.

Senior Norfolk Coroner Jacqueline Lake told Norfolk Coroner’s Court that Mr Lawrence had told the friend he was staying with at the Blue Jasmine Hotel that he was going for a swim.  Just a few moments later he was found at the bottom of the swimming pool.

The Greek authorities confirmed that his cause of death was drowning in fresh water, caused by obstruction of the coronary arteries of the heart.
