Forty five new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kef yesterday by EODY (in case you missed that post)

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1542
1 USD = € 0.859

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Royal guard knocks child to ground during march

A royal guard at the Tower of London has been filmed knocking over a child who was in his way.

In the clip shared anonymously on TikTok and reported by Ladbible, two royal guards were seen marching at the London landmark, watched by tourists.

But the child quickly stepped right into the path of one of the guards, and was pushed to the ground. The soldier lifted his leg to avoid stepping on the boy, shouted and carried on marching.

Onlookers gasped as the child fell to the ground, but he quickly got back to his feet, seemingly unhurt.

Sunken warship in River Thames with explosives on board could cause ‘mass damage and loss of life’
SS Richard Montgomery to be dismantled by Royal Navy after warnings that further deterioration could cause devices to detonate

The Royal Navy has been called in to dismantle a sunken warship in the River Thames, as the latest assessment says 1,400 tonnes of unstable explosives on board could cause “mass damage and loss of life”.

Bomb disposal experts trained in underwater demolitions have been tasked with making safe the SS Richard Montgomery, after the latest survey warned any further deterioration of the ship could “trigger the unexploded ordnance”.

Santander: Bank gave £130m to customers in Christmas blunder

Tens of thousands of people awoke on Christmas morning to a surprise from an unexpected benefactor - Santander.

The bank mistakenly deposited £130m into 75,000 accounts on 25 December.

Santander's staff are now rushing to claw back the money, although the job is being made more difficult because much of it was deposited in accounts at rival banks, according to The Times.

Dutch reach comes to England: Revised Highway Code sets out new way to open your car door
Drivers expected to open their doors with left hand to protect cyclists and pedestrians, but majority of the public unaware of the changes

Drivers will be told to open their door with their left hand to protect cyclists under new Highway Code rules.

The technique, known as the ‘Dutch reach’, is set to become official guidance to motorists when the revised version of the code comes into force at the end of January.

However, motoring experts have warned that the instruction could become “a distraction” from checking the road is clear as drivers focus on executing an “alien” manoeuvre.

It has also been criticised as something that will be difficult for older drivers to do.

Vaccination certificate will likely expire in 7 months without booster

The current vaccination certificates issued by the government after two doses of a vaccine against Covid-19 could expire after seven months, if the holder does not follow up with a third dose, Health Minister Thanos Plevris announced on Thursday.

Speaking on Skai TV, he said the decision is “almost made,” adding that specific announcements will be made after the new year. Currently the same applies with people over 60, who have been told to get the jab.
