Post by: Maik on Friday, 18 January, 2019 @ 20:47:50
Living in Greece (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-greece) advice on the gov.uk website has been updated at 2:34pm, 18 January 2019: EU Exit update: updated information on pensions and driving.

Quote
Driving in Greece

Holders of UK driving licences who are resident in an EU country should exchange their UK licences for a driving licence from the EU country you are living in before 29 March 2019. For more information see driving abroad (https://www.gov.uk/driving-abroad).

See driving licence renewal and exchange (https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/driving-licence/driving-licence-renewal-exchange/index_en.htm) and taking a vehicle out of the UK (https://www.gov.uk/taking-vehicles-out-of-uk).

If you spend more than 6 months of the year in Greece with your UK-registered car, you must register your vehicle with the Greek authorities.

Pensions

See State Pension if you retire abroad (https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad) and new State Pension (https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pension).

The UK government will continue to pay state pension, child benefits, and disability benefits to eligible UK nationals in the EU after the UK’s exit from the EU. Find guidance on benefits and pensions in a no deal scenario (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/uk-nationals-in-the-eu-benefits-and-pensions-in-a-no-deal-scenario).

If you’ve worked in Greece, you should claim your pension through your local EOPYY (http://www.eopyy.gov.gr/Home/StartPage?a_HomePage=Index) office.

If you haven’t worked in Greece, you should claim your UK state pension by contacting the International Pension Centre (https://www.gov.uk/international-pension-centre).

Visas and residency

See entry requirements for Greece (https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/greece/entry-requirements) in our travel advice.

After 3 months in Greece, you must apply for a registration certificate (Veveosi Engrafis). See registration certificate – permanent residence requirements (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/578218/Registration_certificate_-_Permanent_Residence_Certificate_requirements_updated_161212.pdf).

The UK and EU have agreed the full legal text of the draft Withdrawal Agreement in principle. The agreement on citizens’ rights will allow UK nationals to stay in their Member State of residence after the UK leaves the EU on 29 March 2019.

In the event of changes to residency rules or registration processes after 29 March 2019, we will update this page as soon as information is available.

Greek government citizens’ rights announcement

Read the statement from the Greek government regarding the protection of citizens’ rights after EU Exit (https://brexit.gov.gr/uk-citizens-in-greece/).

Visit the Greek government’s BREXIT website (https://brexit.gov.gr/) for citizens and businesses (in Greek). UK nationals can check the Q&As section (https://brexit.gov.gr/uk-citizens-in-greece/) (in English) on the rights of those living in and traveling to Greece after EU Exit. A contact form (https://brexit.gov.gr/contact/) is also provided.

We advise UK nationals living in Greece to make sure they are correctly registered as residents in Greece before 29 March 2019.
