Greece excluded from Scottish 14-day coronavirus quarantine

Along with Greece, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Malta and Poland are among the 39 countries with low rates of infection. As a result, travellers will be exempted from the 14-day quarantine, Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon said during a press conference.

The list of countries excluded is more limited than that of England, which includes more than 70 countries and territories.

Police warn citizens to delete dangerous fake e-mail

The Hellenic Police has warned citizens to refrain from opening a fraudulent e-mail circulating which purports to be from EL.AS and bears the Greek police signature.

The e-mail is being circulated by fraudsters trying to deceive citizens and act as a phishing text to gain access to their personal data.

Police called on anyone who has already received the message to delete it and not to open the attached files to avoid being attacked by malware.

Irinna Hotel in Svoronata is not opening this season. Second big hotel I've heard will remain closed. Lots of jobs not on offer.

Mains power will be off between 06:00-08:00 this Sunday, 12 July, on Ithaki and in Agia Efimia, Assos, Neohori and Komitata. Due to essential maintenance work.

Seems a seaplane service linking Kef with the other islands of the Eptanisa and Patras is a step nearer as a licence has been issued for a waterway in Patras.

Stanley Johnson enjoys a lockdown splashdown during 'essential' trip to Greece
The Prime Minister's father insisted his trip to Greece was essential so he could "Covid-proof" his holiday home

he end of lockdown turned into splashdown for Stanley Johnson, the Prime Minister’s father, as he took a dip in the Aegean Sea.

Stanley Johnson, 79, last week showed travel restrictions were all Greek to him by jetting off to his villa in Paltsi Pelion.

He claimed the trip was “essential travel” to get the pad ready for renting and insisted he had to “Covid-proof” his holiday home.

PM Boris Johnson has roundly refused to criticise his dad.

Mr Johnson senior, who has been heavily criticised for making the journey, was unapologetic.

He said: “People are longing to get here, so I’ve just got one week to get everything organised.”

He travelled via Bulgaria to overcome a ban on flights from the UK to Greece.

And quarantine rules were changed just in time for him to skip the two weeks indoors on his return to the UK.

Stanley Johnson is expected to return from Greece to the UK today.

Greece’s Paros Voted Best Island in Europe

The best island in Europe for 2020 is Paros, according to the many readers of the leading American travel magazine Travel + Leisure (T+L), who participated in the voting for the World’s Best Awards 2020.

True to form, Greece holds seven spots on this year’s distinguished list. The island of Milos was voted in second place, Crete came in sixth and Rhodes and the Dodecanese were in tenth place. Santorini took the eleventh spot, Corfu and the Ionian islands came in at number 18 and Mykonos took 20th place.

Worked there for about three months, 'tis indeed a lovely island. Unfortunately, while I was there the Express Samina went down and the sights are unforgetable. AntiParos is also beautiful.
