Death by chocolate: Kennel Club in Easter warning to dog owners
Sweet treats can cause potentially fatal health problems for dogs, with cases doubling over Easter period

From chocolate eggs to hot cross buns and simnel cake, for many Easter is a time for sweet treats. But experts have warned they can cause potentially fatal health problems for dogs.

According to data from the the Kennel Club, incidents of canine chocolate poisoning more than double over the Easter period when compared with other months.

The Kennel club has warned sweet treats are not the only springtime peril for pets, noting that daffodils, tulips and spring crocuses can pose a health risk to curious canines.
