High Number of Caretta Caretta Turtle Nests Observed in 2020 in Greece

An unexpectedly high number of Caretta Caretta sea turtle nests have been recorded in Greece and in the Mediterranean this year, according to official data issued by Archelon, which noted that this justifies the appellation of 2020 as "Year of the Sea Turtle".

Specifically, Archelon volunteers counted 6,500 Caretta caretta nests on the 75 km-long nesting beaches where the protected sea turtle lays its eggs in Greece, a spectacular rise compared with the 5,400 nests recorded on the same beaches in 2019.

Moria migrants and Greek islanders protest over new camp

Thousands of migrants and refugees left without shelter after a fire on the Greek island of Lesbos have been protesting against the construction of a replacement camp.

Almost 13,000 people had been living in squalor in the overcrowded Moria camp and are desperate to leave the island.

The island's residents also oppose the reconstruction of the camp and have blocked roads to stop aid deliveries.

But the Greek army has already begun setting up replacement accommodation.

Scheme to bring ultrafast broadband to rural areas gets £22m funding boost

Rural areas of England suffering with some of the slowest internet speeds in the country have been given new hope of receiving ultrafast broadband with a £22.2 million funding boost for connections.

Extra money is being pumped into the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, which is designed to subsidise the cost of building gigabit-capable broadband networks in remote areas.

Improving the nation’s connectivity speeds was a key election pledge from Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who wants to bring gigabit-speed broadband to the whole of the UK in the next five years.

Gigabit broadband would make it possible to download an HD movie in less than 30 seconds.

Ah, broadband speeds... out here in rural UK my broadband speed is a tad faster than rural Greece

Enough to drive one to

(I think it's one of the 'better' retsinas? I don't think it's much seen on Kef, and rare in UK!)
