Kef will probably be around the same temperature as recent days... warm enough for most!

Greece Braces for New Heat Wave This Weekend

On Tuesday (01-09) in the Ionian it will show a drop of 3-4 degrees.
https://greece.greekreporter.com/2020/08/28/greece-braces-for-new-heat-wave-this-weekend/

So far looks as though the current wave of high temperature, as defined by EMY, will continue to the end of the month, but that's not far away. Come September it starts to cool down a few degrees.

Not often you see a red warning in Greece. This afternoon, evening and tomorrow it might be best to stay at home and batten down the hatches:

Warning issued as rare cyclone heads to Greece

A rare Mediterranean cyclone, dubbed Ianos, will land in Greece on Thursday, and will initially impact western parts of the country in the late afternoon, mainly the Ionian islands of Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Ithaca... according to a statement issued yesterday by Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias.

Hardalias warned the public to be vigilant and take necessary precautions.

I don't want to go through a night like that again. I stayed on the boat until 3am, but was scared for my safety. Once off the boat I tried to stop it hitting the concrete quay for the next hour. It was completely wild with big waves in the harbour, not to mention the gale force wind and rain. I finally retreated to the car and checked the boat was still there every hour. Finally at first light, it had calmed down enough to go home.

Flights rerouted as Greece braces for rare 'medicane' storm

At least two flights were rerouted in Greece early Friday as the country braced for a hurricane-like storm lashing the Ionian Sea.

Two Ryanair flights to the Ionian island of Cephalonia were unable to land at the local airport and were rerouted to Athens.

The Mediterranean hurricane, or "medicane", was packing violent winds of over 100 kilometres (62 miles) per hour, according to the Greek civil protection agency.

Local residents have reported power outages, damage to roofs and falling trees.

A sailing boat moored off the island of Ithaki was carried away by waves but its two passengers managed to make it to shore, state news agency ANA said.

The civil protection agency has urged those in the storm's path to refrain from non-essential travel and avoid basements.

The civil protection agency on Thursday said it had relocated rescue teams with tracked vehicles to high-risk areas. Three rescue helicopters are also on standby.

Glad the boat's OK, Roger - those in the Ag Ef pic expat's posted look a bit worse for it. Next task, when it calms down.... Katelios cat count. Hopefully all present and correct.

I wrote the above post as the eye was passing. Then the wind came from another direction with gusts of F12 (hurricane). Unfortunately while I was away from the harbour, my boat broke free and came to rest on a fishing boat. This caused damage to stanchions, pushpit and rudder box. Could have been a lot worse and there was plenty of help around. Work for the winter.
