Title: January rainfall
Post by: Jolly Roger on Friday, 01 February, 2019 @ 17:44:21
Kefalonia residents will not be surprised to learn that January was a cooler than usual month, but also had the highest January rainfall for many years.
If any conclusions can be drawn from my observations in relation to climate change, I would say that Kefalonia seems to be becoming cooler and wetter.

Here you go, Tony: about 3 deg (https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/ddcc21f0-1a12-4d0d-9926-79249d39d92f)

4°C here and bright, sunny day!

If that rainfall enters the subterranean water courses it could be a godsend in the summer, what with tourist arrivals up 22% or so this summer and the threat of overtourism on the Ionian Islands.

Record levels of rainfall recorded for January

Very high levels of rainfall were recorded during the month of January across Greece, according to the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) weather service meteo.

In many NOA stations, the average monthly level was the highest ever recorded for the month of January.

Much of that precipitation was snowfall, particularly Northern Greece.
