Lidl: Food fit for the GODS
« on: Friday, 01 September, 2017 @ 15:03:24 »
Lidl are upsetting some by being overly pc: according to keeptalkinggreece.com a Belgian customer complained that the German supermarket chain has, on its products, removed the cross from Greek churches. In reality, the big blue dome below is topped with a cross:

The story's been picked up by protothema and Breitbart, both of which make a few interesting comments.

According to Lidl, "We avoid the use of religious symbols because we do not want to exclude any religious beliefs".

Hm, this 2015 flyer from Lidl clearly shows a cross on a Greek church. Seems Lidl are happy, in this case, to associate their products with "the gods". Are Lidl so clueless they don't know Christianity is monotheistic and that the statement Lidl food is fit for the gods could be offensive to some people (Christians, Hindus, Jews, Moslems, Rastafarians, Sikhs...)?
