The ideal temperature has been revealed - and it rarely exists in the UK

Science has finally confirmed what we’ve known for ages: that living in a warmer country makes you happier.

A recent study found that the perfect temperature for humans is in fact 22°C; much higher than the average temperature found in the UK.

The study looked at 1.7 million American people, testing them on five personality traits: agreeability, conscientiousness, emotional stability, extraversion and openness to new experiences.

Towns with an average temperature of 22°C each year recorded the best samples with scientists concluding that it was the perfect temperature to make people more agreeable, emotionally stable and extroverted.

Why?

Simple. The nicer the weather, the more likely we are to go outside and talk to our neighbours.

Unfortunately, no cities in the UK managed to reach an average temperature of 22°C this year with London and Oxford only hitting 15°C and Manchester and Birmingham barely scraping 14°C.

If you’re looking to move to the ideal place, head to Athens in Greece for the perfect climate.

Hm, think maybe Ms Sharkey hasn't been to Athens when it's >40C, the municipality has opened up buildings with a/c so the public can go cool down and put water troughs out for stray dogs. In those temperatures some people get 'hot headed' and far from friendly. But as an average temperature... Athens might be a friendlier place than London.

I wouldn't have a clue what my neighbours were saying

Just had a quick calculation using my temperature records for 2016. Taking the highest monthly temperature over 12 months, the average is 23.4c, so not so far from the 'ideal'.
