Allegedly "the bridge" linking Kefalonia north and south will be officially open to traffic 08 June.

Presumably 2017.

Allegedly the main square in Argostoli will be handed back from the contractor to the municipality in about two weeks. Lots of new trees.

I saw pictures of palm tree planting, but not the usual palm trees, these were coconut palms. Will we be issued with hard hats?

There will be celebrations in Assos and Fiscardo, after more than 3 years of waiting for this moment.

Is the change of palms because of the bug that has infected a lot of the palm trees on Kefalonia?
When we were there in May we saw a lot of blackened dead palms and some with the tops cut off and covered up. We were told a beetle had infected the trees.

To be honest, it is astounding that this even needs proving.  Anyone with a smidgeon of experience of this world knows that animals cry out when they are hurt in exactly the same way as we do.  It sounds like some computer programmers have got too much time on their hands.   :oki:

If you fancy a coconut tree for your garden to remind you of Kef, a 9' tree costs £279.93 on Amazon, a sprouted coconut (shell) comes in at £106.45... did someone mention hard hats?

Yep, all coconut palms. You can't buy Phoenix palms here at the moment due to the palm weevil. The full length of the new harbour front area, along the road from Bass Cafe to the Square, plus the Square etc. A few quids worth!
