Europe is on high alert following anti-terror raids and arrests of suspected Islamist militants.

More than 20 people have been arrested in Belgium, France and Germany and Belgium has joined France in deploying troops alongside police.

Security has been tightened in several countries after last week's attacks in Paris left 17 people dead.

There are increased concerns about the return of young Europeans who have gone to fight with Middle East militants.

Al Murray: The Pub Landlord on Muslim 'ghettos', breastfeeding and overseeing the acquisition of Greece by Kent County Council

“I envisage Greece exiting the Euro and needing someone to help. Kent County Council would only have to shift bin collection to fortnightly to be able to step in and take on Greece’s debts.  In turn Manston airport – which is in my intended constituency by the way, keeping it local, yes – would be reopened as the only airport for flying to Greece. Joined up thinking for once. Admit it, you like it don’t you?”

Greek authorities are hunting for a man wanted in connection with the foiled plot to attack Belgian police, Belgian media reported on Saturday.

Belgium's state broadcaster said authorities were seeking a Brussels man of Moroccan origin who was hiding in Greece.

Greek police said international security coordinators had passed on the names of several people in connection with the plot in Belgium to check if they were in Greece or had passed through the country.

They did not comment on whether the man named by Belgian media was on that list.

At least four people have been arrested in Athens as part of a probe into a jihadist cell that was dismantled in Belgium this week before it could carry out any attacks.

Greece's anti-terror police were seeking to determine whether those arrested included Abdelhamid Abaaoud.

Mr Abaaoud, 27, is suspected to be the mastermind of the cell who according to media reports may have been planning the foiled attacks from Greece.

Sounds reasonable but only if it doesn't mean more Russkies in Greece.  The only race more obnoxious than the Frogs and Krauts (except, maybe, the Eyeties, the Aussies, the South Africans and the Yanks) .

Cheers for the news from the front Maik. Could well be an interesting 2015 for Poros if not the whole of Greece !
