Title: Secunia - software updating
Post by: TonyKath on Tuesday, 27 October, 2015 @ 20:16:28
Secunia seemed to have disappeared from my pc and laptop a few days back.  So have re-downloaded the latest version.  Asked me to give a name and email address - not sure it has done that before.  Doesn't seem much different.  But is a useful bit of kit.

Interesting report (.pdf) from Secunia (https://secunia.com/?action=fetch&filename=PSI-Country-Report-%28US%29-%282015Q3%29.pdf), reckons 80% of PCs in the USA running Flash Player are using an out-of-date version.

Not something I use now I'm on Linux but maybe it's due to Secunia being bought out (http://www.infoworld.com/article/2983954/security/secunia-acquired-by-flexera-software.html) by Flexera Software in mid-September. Looks like Flexera is mostly owned (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexera_Software) by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.

Thanks Maik - esp as I forgot to give a link to the product!  And I don't object that strongly to them having/selling my email address on in exchange for a useful application.
