Greek Football Giants Olympiacos Threatened with Relegation

A new scandal is brewing in Greek football. Following allegations of match-fixing Olympiacos are threatened with relegation and Olympiacos’ owner Evangelos Marinakis may face a life-long ban from the sport.

Altogether 15 individuals and the two clubs, Olympiacos and Atromitos, are accused according to the provisions of Article 27 of the Code of Conduct of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) about “fixing the result of a match for betting purposes”.

The allegations are centered on a 2015 match between Olympiacos and Atromitos which the Piraeus club won 2-1.

In 2014 Marinakis donated 500,000€ to help repair Kefalonia's earthquake damaged schools. Well known for his philanthropy, Marinakis is mired in controversy and allegations of drug trafficking, here's an interesting article about the drug ship, Noor 1.

Maranakis also owns Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Greece preparing new tourism rules in wake of coronavirus
Packed pools, beaches and tour buses will not return immediately as country plans for scaled back 2020 season

Don't think the article contains anything new although it did remind me that the plan might be to test tourists for coronavirus at the departure airport. I can imagine situations where Mr Smith can fly to his Greek holiday but Mrs Smith isn't allowed to board the 'plane. Hm, will that encourage people to book a holiday?

A short video on the BBC for those in the UK who are missing Kefalonia:

Dumfries and Galloway forest and woodland blaze enters third day

Like the one on Marsden Moor, believed started deliberately.
