The period during which the sale of heating oil is permitted will be extended beyond April 30, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Saturday, responding to a spike in demand following the sharp drop in prices.

Survey Greece: Nearly half of respondents say they'll take summer vacation

Roughly half of the respondents queried in a latest survey in Greece said they are planning to take summer vacations this year, ostensibly after strict coronavirus-related restrictions are relaxed or lifted completely.

According to an Internet survey by the marketing lab at the University of Macedonia, 47 percent of respondents who said they planned to take a holiday said they would do so in August (65 percent).

As expected, 90 percent of those that answered in the affirmative said they would stay in the country for their vacation.

One-week-old roe deer with broken leg sent to Arcturos

A roe deer fawn with a broken leg, just a few days old and with parts of its umbilical cord still on its body, was found by hunters on Greece’s Mount Paiko and has been taken to the Arcturos wildlife shelter for treatment. The tiny newborn fawn’s chances of survival in the woods with such an injury were believed to be extremely slim.

The tiny, spotted fawn weighs only 1.5 kg (3.3 pounds) and is approximately one week old. The deer’s broken leg has been set in a special cast and the vets in charge believe that it will heal quickly. The animal will be kept at the Aetos shelter in Florina and when it is healed and ready to go, it will be released and reintegrated back into the wild.
