Who's reading your Gmails?
« on: Tuesday, 03 July, 2018 @ 15:09:20 »
The whole business model of Faceache, Instagrief, WhackedUp, Google, Gmail, Hotmail et al is you knowingly abandon any notion of Privacy and agree to those companies doing anything they want with your data, posts, email, searches etc.

If any of the above concerns you, though I'm amazed how many don't seem to care, then use duckduckgo.com as your search resource, and ProtonMail for email. Both Free, both Private.

Gmail app developers have been reading your emails
It’s a common practice that’s gone largely unnoticed

Third-party app developers can read the emails of millions of Gmail users, a report from The Wall Street Journal highlighted today. Gmail’s access settings allows data companies and app developers to see people’s emails and view private details, including recipient addresses, time stamps, and entire messages. And while those apps do need to receive user consent, the consent form isn’t exactly clear that it would allow humans — and not just computers — to read your emails.

How to hide your Gmails from prying eyes

Google has confirmed that private Gmail messages can sometimes be read by staff at external companies.

Here is how to check your account permissions to see whether you are affected.

Note the qualifiers, Sometimes, and External Companies.

Remember, no matter what your settings, your email can/will always be read by Google!

Test it. Send a friend an email saying Aunt Flo passed away and give burial service details.
Then wait for the browser ads for Florists and Burial Services to er...pop up
