Poros karnivali 2015
« on: Sunday, 15 February, 2015 @ 19:19:08 »
Looks like there really gonna push the boat out for this one !

A really nice little karnivali parade in Poros this afternoon under a clear, blue sky (although the air's still a tad fresh). Here's some piccies:

Wonderful. It is amazing what a small town like Poros can put on.
Thanks for the photos.

Carnivals like that are, sadly, a thing of the past here in the UK.

Thankfully, I still have childhood memories of maypole displays and country dancing etc...

Thanks, Jean. I'd just about erased memories of country dancing on the school FOOTBALL field   :cardred:

What some people don't realise, Phil, is that karnivali parades in Greece aren't just an excuse for fancy dress, the idea is to lampoon politicians and current events. Cameron, Clegg, Miliband, Farage...how could anyone take the p*ss out of them?

Splendid idea but sadly mostly mostly lost on me.  There's obviously one with the fleet of little boats saying "Here's the marina, there's the marina... where's the marina?" Another says "Unwelcome to Lower Arakli" - what's that all about?!  And one with references to the Euro I can't figure out.  Any better ideas anyone?

Tony

"you're not welcome" bit seems to be taking the mickey out of a local TV show - "partali"

Not sure about Arakli but I did like the crow, and skull on the tombstone cross. The marina... five or so years ago Poros was promised marina facilities (unlike Katelios which, I gather, is designated as a fishing shelter). Amazingly, there's been no progress on this...  :iroll:
