Kapesovo: The 16th Century Greek Village Where All Inhabitants Have Ancient Greek Names

Every Greek village, big or small, has its own beauty, uniqueness and special history.

From strange stories about how they received their names, to how many years they have been inhabited, villages and their traditions are a big part of Greek culture.

Many villages, both in mainland Greece and on the Greek islands, also stand out for their local dialect – which even Greeks from different areas themselves cannot understand – their local dishes and all the goods they produce.

Kapesovo, a green, picturesque, stone village of just 51 residents, that belongs to the Municipality of Zagori, is known for another, very unique reason; almost all its residents have ancient Greek names.

British shoppers hit with unexpectedly high fees on products from EU after Brexit

Britain’s online shoppers have expressed their dismay after been hit with unexpectedly high post-Brexit charges on items ordered from countries in the EU.

Consumers have been asked to pay up to one-third extra in customs duties, VAT and additional delivery charges once they arrive in the UK.

One UK retail boss said British firms were considering abandoning or even burning goods returned by their EU customers who were also unhappy about unexpected charges, due to the costs involved in bringing the items back to Britain.

The Tavern Of Psarras: The Oldest Restaurant In Greece, Operating Since 1898

According to NetCredit map, the oldest restaurant in Greece, is located in Plaka, Athens, and it is called “The Old Tavern of Psarras” (Η Παλιά Ταβέρνα του Ψαρά), which translates to “The Old Tavern of the Fisherman”.

The Old Tavern of Psarras opened its doors in 1898, and although it was forced to shut down multiple times, due to the two World Wars and other historical events that occurred in the country, 123 years later it has become one the most beloved restaurants in Athens.

... the oldest restaurant in Europe, and possibly the oldest in the world according to NetCredit, is located in Austria. The ‘St. Peter Stiftskulinarium’ inn, at St. Peter’s Abbey in Salzburg, Austria, has been operating since 803.
