Smartwatches that track a child's movements can be hacked by criminals

A  popular smartwatch that can track a child's movements is so easy to hack that it should be withdrawn from sale, cyber experts have warned.

MiSafes Kid's Watcher Plus is a GPS-based gadget used by thousands of parents in the UK to keep track of their children and speak to them remotely.

Researchers found serious security flaws in the product, including the use of unencrypted data.

The flaws mean hackers can download software to track a child's movements, listen in on their conversations and make calls to them pretending to be from their parents.

Ken Munro, the cyber expert at Pen Test Partners who discovered the vulnerability, said: "We were shocked by how easy [the smart watch] was to hack."

He said he was able to access children's profile details which include a photograph, name, date of birth, gender, weight and height.
