Seems difficult to believe but seems the 'new' mayor of southern Kefalonia, Theofilos Michalatos, has sliced the budget for voluntary forest protection groups in half, from 18,000€ last year to 9,000€ for the coming season.

UK ministers gain power to allow lower-standard food imports

Ministers will be able to approve the import of animal and agricultural products of a lower standard than currently permitted in the UK, after attempts to amend the trade bill failed.

The government has repeatedly vowed not to allow the import of chlorinated chicken and hormone-treated beef, but has refused to sign those pledges into law.

Olympic gold winner's sexual abuse case is a turning point for Greece
Action brought by sailor Sofia Bekatorou likely to end patriarchal country’s taboo on discussing treatment of women

When the Olympic gold medallist Sofia Bekatorou appears before a public prosecutor on Wednesday to reveal the sexual abuse she allegedly endured at the hands of a senior sport official, all of Greece will be watching.

For the sailing champion who shot to fame in the 2004 Athens Olympics, the court proceedings will mark the official end of the fear she says has kept her silent for more than two decades. But as she paves the way for more women to speak out, she will lift the veil on a subject considered so taboo in Greece it was never previously aired in public.

Top left looks like snow on the slopes of Ainos, could be what's driven these ponies down to Mavrata to forage.

Maybe they didn't get an SMS message to say they could go up there to exercise :dunno:

Hunt men caught on film using dog and rods to flush out fox

Two men have been caught on camera putting dogs underground and using drainage rods in an effort to force out a fox so it can be illegally chased by a hunt.

Deliberately chasing a wild mammal with dogs was banned by law in 2005.

But the covert footage obtained by hunt saboteurs shows two men from the Grove and Rufford hunt in Nottinghamshire trying to “bolt” a fox for hounds to chase.
