Bridge parts and heavy lifting gear have arrived on the Ionian Pelagos ferry from Astakos. Intended to bridge the gap in the road near Myrtos, the work is expected to take 2 months (optimistic maybe).

Nice to have some news on Sunday!
*Think* it's 'half' the bridge that's arrived, presumably the northern half, t'other arf coming in via Poros... sometime.
Or so I've heard (see (http://goinggreek.info/index.php?topic=2709.msg14803#msg14803)).
Edit: Just heard t'other arf arrived into Poros on the Nisos Kefalonia on Saturday / Sunday. Think *maybe* different bits arrived different days, but sounds as though all/majority of the major bits are on the island. :)

Thanks for the link BeeTee. The pics are amazing. They show just what a tough job replacing the road with a bridge is. Obviously everything is bespoke and the space to work is very limited. You can also see where the old road has fallen away and the drop that's left for any of the workies who move to close to the marker tape. No health and safety there!
