Residents on earthquake-stricken Cephalonia will be exempted from paying the property levy in 2014, Parliament President Evangelos Meimarakis announced on Wednesday.

He said the order for the exemption was given by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras after consultation with Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras, following a request made by local government on the island.

Not clear if this refers to the whole island or just the areas damaged by earthquakes.
Also news of a visit by the Chinese ambassador.

Just heard that the exemption of the property tax will be for Paliki only. I do not have official confirmation, but this seems sensible.
