Title: Windows 7 Home sales stop
Post by: Maik on Monday, 27 October, 2014 @ 22:06:17
Availability of new PCs with Windows 7 Home will start to dry up after 31 October as this is when computer manufacturers will stop pre-installing it. End of mainstream support for Windows 7 Home SP1 isn't so far away, coming on 13 January, 2015, after which there will be no development of it although security updates will be provided until 14 January, 2020. Manufacturers will continue to pre-install Windows 7 Professional on new PCs until at least end October, 2015, by which time Windows 10 should be on the market. The inability to perform an in-place Windows upgrade/downgrade has been addressed with this utility
UpDown8 - Windows 7/8 Upgrade-Downgrade Helper (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/36726-UpDown8-Windows-7-8-Upgrade-Downgrade-Helper)

You'll still need an Install disk for the version you're moving to, but if you know what you're doing this is a handy tool
