Title: Police & bankcard phone scam
Post by: Misty on Monday, 15 April, 2019 @ 20:06:15
Hi

Beware of phone calls in the UK where they say "Are you (they say your name) this is the metropolitan police, we have 2 people in custody who have copies of your bankcard" they then say the card is registered at and quote your address. The person went on to ask how many bank cards I have. I replied by asking them which station they were phoning from as I would call back to confirm they were the Met police. Scumbag rapidly hungup.
Phone number was withheld.

Thanks for the warning, Misty, first I'd heard of it. There's an account of what you prevented from happening to you on ITV News (https://www.itv.com/news/london/2013-03-20/police-warn-of-courier-fraud/).
