According to Vice-Register of Rural Economy and Rural Development, Sotiris Rakis, some 1180 livestock animals have been reported missing or drowned during the Ianos medicane, figure expected to rise to around 1500. Worst affected areas are Falaris, Makriotika, Faraklata and Agkona where a number of buildings were damaged. Damage to productive trees, etc, relatively small at 230. The next big step, according to Mr. Rakis, are projects to prevent a repeat of the devastation.
