Today, The Mozilla Foundation released Firefox 29.0, the first full release of the browser based on the new Australis “user experience.” Featuring a new toolbar layout, an updated version of the Firefox Sync cloud synchronization service, and a host of other incremental adjustments, the latest Firefox feels a lot different—though to people who have used Google’s Chrome, it may look strangely familiar.

After you have had an opportunity to experiment with the changes, if your experience with the updated version is similar to mine and there are some you just don't think you can live with, check out the suggestions at gHacks on How to turn the new Firefox 29 into the old Firefox (http://www.ghacks.net/2014/04/26/turn-new-firefox-29-old-firefox/).
You could also switch to the Pale Moon Browser (http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2014/03/pale-moon-browser.html), based on Firefox ESR. The developer is fast to include any needed security fixes but doesn't make changes merely for the sake of change.
Personal comment: These latest changes to Firefox have resulted in a rather ugly interface. I'm glad I switched to Pale Moon as my go-to browser.

It's auto-updating as I type this. Not sure I'm gonna like this one as I find Chrome awkward to use. A bit more stability would be very welcome but I suspect unlikely. Often crashes on this site and others opening pages with flash content, e.g. YouTube. I feel a bit stuck with FF as the add-ons are so good and I originally switched several years back because IE didn't run Greek text on GGi - might do now though.

Can't say I've ever found Firefox unstable, or noticeably slower than Chrome. I, too, stick with it mainly for the add-ons. Quite a few Firefox-based browsers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Web_browsers_based_on_Firefox) besides Pale Moon.

I found the ghacks link http://www.ghacks.net/2014/04/26/turn-new-firefox-29-old-firefox/ (http://www.ghacks.net/2014/04/26/turn-new-firefox-29-old-firefox/) very helpful - and have just got round to installing the classic theme restorer. It really does allow more movement of screen objects and choice of tabs etc. When installed you find it under Tools.
