Greece: How to Book Appointment for Covid-19 Vaccination

The vaccine is expected to be available to Greece’s general population in mid-January.

Those wishing to get vaccinated can either:

– log in to http://emvolio.gov.gr using their TAXIS codes and AMKA number (Social Security Number) and book
– verify the recommended appointment via text message (SMS) to 13034.

This secures both appointments as the vaccine will be administered in two doses.

Citizens who have no online access or TAXIS codes can:

– book an appointment at pharmacies or citizens’ service centers (also known as KEP)
– once they book they will receive – depending on booking method – a code number for the appointment and a QR Code.

From what I can see, emvolio.gov.gr is still only in Greek so a visit to the local pharmacy (or KEPS) should do the trick. Katerina in Poros pharmacy is very helpful.

Windows 7 Upgrades to Windows 10 Still Free

Back in 2015 when it officially launched Windows 10, Microsoft also released a campaign, inviting Windows 7 and 8.1 users to upgrade to the new OS version at absolutely no cost.

The only condition was for these Windows 7 devices to be using a genuine product key, with Microsoft explaining that it wanted everyone to benefit from the improvements that were bundled in Windows 10 without paying.

In other words, starting with mid-2016, the free upgrades were supposed to end, so whoever wanted to upgrade to Windows 10 just had to pay the full price of the license.

And yet, upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at no extra cost not only was possible even after the one-year promo came to an end, but it also works today.
