Bear cubs stray into town of Kastoria in northern Greece
According to a member of the Arcturos bear conservation society, the two cubs are around a year old and were initially spotted in a street beside Kastoria Lake shortly after midnight.
“There’s a playground right on the edge of the mountain where it slopes down into Kastoria and we’ve seen bears having a ball of a time, especially on the seesaw and spring rides,” Panagiotopoulos said

Greece sees 23% rise in early bookings for 2017
Early bookings for travel to Greece for 2017 are showing a 23% rise up until September, according to official figures released today.
This shows packages up by 23%, all-inclusive holidays up 28% and self-catering up 19%.

Extra tax to be charged per night on Airbnb-style property rent
Greece’s first regulatory framework on property rentals via websites such as Airbnb, HomeAway, FlipKey and HouseTrip will introduce a 5 percent tax per night and impose a fine of 50,000 euros on owners who do not enter their details in the relevant register. Owners’ revenues will also be taxed at the rates used for rental incomes (between 15 and 45 percent), depending on the income level.
